Bird

Bee-eaters are beautiful summer visitors which arrive from late March and are present until September. They are sociable birds, nesting in colonies in earth banks and feeding in small flocks on flying insects. They can often be seen perched on wires, from which they fly out to catch their prey. Their call, which sounds a bit like a football referee’s whistle is a characteristic sound of summer.
